In memory of Daisy
...

Daisy died April 30, 2004. She had a cancerous tumor that we hoped could be removed. Doctors thought it was attached to her spleen--one of those apparently optional organs--but during surgery, it was discovered to have been growing in her intestines, and it spread slightly into her liver. The tumor was not removeable at all. So, rather then waking her and allowing her to continue to deteriorate, she was set to rest while she was still under anesthesia.

Daisy was the best cat--she was the best one, and I always told her that. She was adopted June 29, 2000--I was told she was about 5 at the time. When I went to the shelter to see her, she was in a room with a dozen other cats, in a volunteer house with about a hundred cats! When the door opened to the room she was in, she scurried right on over to me to say hello, as if she were also saying, "I'm so glad you've finally come to get me, mom!" She has provided me with so much joy these past four years. I will miss her dearly.

I love you, Daisy.

Violet will miss Daisy very much. She always runs when I cry, but on this day, Vi "knew"--and she came to me and licked the tears off my face.

Ted, Daisy's little-but-big brother for the past year and a half, helped try to save Daisy's life. Daisy needed a blood transfusion before surgery, and Ted was going to try to donate blood to her. Unfortunately, Daisy was Type A and Ted was Type AB; he could not be a donor. But also, he tested positive for FIV. He is not sick, but he needs my extra care now...
