Dear Kate,
Quote Of The Day: "Positive attitudes come in unlimited quantities. Everybody can have one free!" -- Harvey Mackay
Background Music: "Breakfast At Tiffany's"
Today's High: Annie's phone call over coffee.
Today's Low: This stye on my eye--though it is getting better.
I love hazelnut coffee. But this morning, I was out of that flavored syrup I use. And I wasn't in the mood for plain-old coffee, so I threw some Vanilla Almond tea leaves in the coffee filter with the Chock Full O' Nuts. My coffee's not bad...just a hint of vanilla almond. Tasty.
I remember making breakfast in bed for my parents when I was finally old enough to reach the stove. Billy, who is three years younger than me, helped. We made scrabbled eggs and toast and coffee for my dad and tea for my mom. I understood the concept of a tea bag, but I guess I didn't understand coffee yet. My dad got a mug of coffee with a tea bag in it. He said it was actually pretty good.
I have to have my morning coffee or I am a zombie all day. Or at least most days. Sometimes, not having coffee, I will get a headache.
In college, coffee was my "cup of inspiration." That's what I called it. As co-editor of the college paper in my sophomore year, and especially during my internship at The Legislative Gazette in my senior year, having a cup of coffee helped me write. When I had writer's block, I'd get a cup of coffee and the words would just flow.
I love breakfast too, though I don't eat it often enough. And what could be better than pancakes?
Annie would say bacon and egg on a hard roll. And that's pretty good too, though the rolls aren't hard at all. Wonder how they got named like that.
Joe would say Cranberry Almond Crunch cereal with wheat germ. Yes, wheat germ.
New York bagels are pretty good too. An egg-everything bagel with light cream cheese; a poppy bagel, toasted with butter or grape jelly; a cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese...those are my favorites.
They say an apple gives you more energy than a cup of coffee. It does. I've tried it. But I still love my cup of joe. ;-)
