Dear Kate,

I think that, in general, I'm a pretty positive person. I have had plenty of glass-is-half-empty periods (perhaps, in chunks of time that seem to have lasted years). But for the most part, I've come to believe that when God closes a door, he opens a window.

Everything happens for a reason. Everything.

I'm definitely not without sourpuss moments. But I think even they serve a purpose. I think it's safe to say I've been cranky for much of the past 24 hours. We all have bad days, right? And while I'm feeling better now, I thought I'd share a poem that my friend Doug wrote--as if it were God speaking. He says he wrote it in about three minutes' time. It's taken me longer to pass it along.

In The Darkest Of Hours

By Douglas Roy Sass

In the darkest of hours,
When hope is lost in the fog,
I will be there.

In the darkest of hours,
When smiles are lost in the tears,
I will always care.

But in the darkest of hours,
When nobody can show you the way,
You will know where...
For in the darkest of hours,
Your spirit's stongest powers,
Will guide you out of the rain,
And rid your heart of pain,
And your soul will visit the blooming flowers
Of a sunny day.

Quote Of The Day:
