Dear Kate,

It's a bit more than 24 hours after my 32nd birthday, and I can already tell that the year will be very good to me.

For starters, I think I skipped 31. I've been thinking of myself as 32 for at least 11 months now--possibly longer. It's felt good to me. It's a good number.

And today, it was one of those days when you wake up happy and you can't really put your finger on any specific reason why. It was also one of those days where I was particularly productive, but I didn't really feel all that busy.

I was washing dishes this evening, feeling like somewhat of a slacker. I went over the course of the day's events and realized how much I actually got done! Go me! And the kicker! The day's not over.

I'm actually going out with a girl friend tonight. Chrispy--really Chris, for Christine, but Chrispy because she calls me Suey. Despite that, she's one of my oldest and bestest friends whom I met in my freshman year at Dowling College. She moved to the Bronx a few years ago and actually kept me company many a day while I was living in Manhattan. Her apartment was just a 20-minute subway or bus ride away from mine.

Anyway, she's on the G'Island this weekend in honor of turkey day, so we're gonna do something around here. Local bar scene. A place to talk and catch up.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, yesterday couldn't have been much better. Well, OK, Joe could have had the day off. But considering the fact that I've always hated the proximity of my birthday to bird day, it turned out pretty good.

Mom made ham and all my favorite vegetables, I had two birthday cakes and not a single pie. Not that pies are bad. But I have issues with pies that have candles in them, trying to pass off for birthday cakes.

Hey! I'm 32 but I can act 12 if I feel like it.

It's going to be a very good year.
