| Get Notified Of Future Updates | Tuesday, December 25, 2001 Dear Kate, Winner of the most depressing song of the season is: "The Christmas Shoes," by Newsong. If you haven't heard the song, it's about a child who wants to buy a pair of shoes for her sick momma for Christmas so she can look pretty when she goes to heaven, which is supposed to be soon. Winner of the seasonal movie that always makes me cry no matter how many times I see it is: Jack Frost. If you've never seen, well, let's just say I wish we were all so lucky to experience our loved ones in some unbelievably beautiful way--like their coming back as a snowman--after they die. It's only natural to want to be with the ones you love at Christmastime. More than any other time, something about the holidays brings out the strongest of feelings. That could probably be why so many people get so depressed this time of year. It's so important to focus on all the good stuff, and it's too easy to forget to do this. It's important to spend time with the ones you love while they are still alive. It's so important to be grateful for all you have, for all the time you have to share. Sometimes it can seem like not enough time. But it's what you've got. And it's better than hoping the person will come back to you as a snowman--or in some other way--some later time. I probably spend much more time dreading the day that I lose someone dear to me, than I spend focusing on all that I have. This is very much a self-reminder: Spend time with the ones you love. It's a gift you can give to yourself, really. Nothing in the world in more important.
| Quote Of The Day: "The greatest treasures of your life are associated with the people you love and who love you in return." Worth Noting: I spent Christmas morning alone with Joe, until he had to go to work. I saw his parents and two of our nephews. I spent most of the day with my parents and brother, and I got to talk on the phone with my cousin Jim and my best friend Annie. In The Background: "Christmas Time"
