[The Joy Project Home] [Dear Kate Home] [Perchy's Home] [Perchy's E-mail] We've all heard this song and dance before, that we should do the things that make us happy. It sure sounds great, but sometimes we get so lost in other people, our jobs or something that keeps us too busy or too stressed to remember to take care of ourselves. "Do something to make myself happy? With what time?," we might say. I'm proposing a simple task to be carried out for the month of September: Keep a short list (via an evolving journal entry or daily Weblog postings, for example, but not excluding a pen and paper) that includes at least one thing each day that you have done to make yourself happy, and explain why it brings you joy. It can be small or large, but it has to come from YOU, not something someone else did for you or gave you. Sometimes, we need to remember to give ourselves such gifts. I think that if we pay attention to our own lists going forward, we might not be so quick to use lack of time or any other excuse to take care of ourselves. Sometimes, the smallest "treat" can help us do and deal with everything else. If you are interested in participating, let me know. Online Journals & Weblogs Participating Since Sept. 1
